CHARON-VAX/XM is a family of low to mid-range virtual VAX systems running on Intel/AMD server platforms, providing up to 128 MB VAX memory. CHARON-VAX/XL provides mid-range virtual VAX systems with 512 MB VAX memory. They provide around 35 VUPs on a fast server.
The 'Plus' versions of these products have a ultra high speed virtual VAX CPU, providing up to 125 VUPs system performance (on a CORE i7 3.2 GHz based system). There is also CHARON-VAX/XK Plus, a product with an intermediate size of 256 MB of memory.
The lower speed products are upgradable in the field.

Hello all,
just to inform you that I was able to run (under Ubuntu 9.04 installed on Intel i7 920) es40 for Linux, using 2048MB of RAM and 4 CPU. The OS is OpenVMS 8.3
Even if it's a NCE, the speed is very impressive.

Trying to install PA 2.0.17 on 64 bit Win 7 Pro. It goes thru the installation, then stops with:
"The file "sripacket.sys" on Charon Packet Protocol
(NDIS6) V6.0 is needed."
This file doesn't exist anywhere.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!

There is new NDIS driver comes along with this version of Personal Alpha. Unfortunately this new NDIS driver is not compatible with old driver. So if you have previous version of Personal Alpha installed already, please be sure to uninstall old Personal Alpha AND NDIS driver.
Go to Control Panel->Network Connections, make sure old NDIS driver has been uninstalled.
